What does the Safety Ministry do?

"Safety Awareness" is the main purpose of the Safety Ministry. When called upon, the ministry team also serves as advisors to the Pastor for all aspects of health and safety that may impact our parish members and visitors. Present at all of the Masses and events here at the Parish, our team is prepared to immediately respond to issues that affect or impact the safety and well-being of the parishioners and visitors. Our trained members employ the live-saving equipment that is available at the parish to provide treatment during a medical emergency until 911 responders arrive to take over. They also provide needed direction to 911 responders, fire personnel, and/or law enforcement.

Who is in the Safety Ministry?

The Safety Ministry members are the parish’s first responders for medical, fire, and security issues. The Safety team's members are comprised of registered parishioners with medical, first responders, and/or emergency response training.

The Our Lady of the Visitation Safety Team is comprised of registered parishioners with medical or first responder backgrounds or other emergency response training. The ministry is designed to serve and advise the Pastor on factors that may impact the health and safety of parish members and visitors. The Safety Team Ministry is in place to address and deal with safety and medical emergencies, including response to the risk of fire, severe weather, or physical hazards. The Safety Team works to foster a culture of training, awareness of hazards, and thoughtful mitigation policies.
